Virtualization

Back to Index

First of all, you need to enable virtualization in you BIOS. It will be usefull if you want to use Docker or any virtual environment, as WSL.

In my case, I have a MSI motherboard, so I enabled the virtualization in:

Overclock   >   CPU Features   >   SVM Mode [Enable]

You can see how it looks like in this video, from 11:45.

Note from January/2026:

For some reason, I keep losing this BIOS configuration whenever I turn off the computer. So, since this future me already have WSL installed, when I run "wsl.exe -d Ubuntu-24.04" , I get an error saying that the service has not been started.

To solve this, I close the Windows Terminal, execute it again but in admnistrator mode, and I type:

sc.exe config wslservice start=auto

It will print "[SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS". Now I can run WSL normally.
